The Three Queens Hotel was built in 1531 as the Saracens Head, Burton upon Trent's oldest licensed premises. In 1770 the Three Queens Hotel was built next door and eventually the two buildings were merged into one. Taken into the present ownership in 1990 the hotel was completely rebuilt and during the next ten years adjoining premises were incorporated into the hotel bringing it up to its present 38 rooms.

The hotel is privately owned by majority shareholder, Colin Roberts and his two friends Martyn 'Percy' Price and Sue Johnson. Colin remains active in the business "My role is to ensure that the high quality standards that we set ourselves are continually maintained".
